A couple who ran a Suffolk post office together for a quarter of a century have celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary.
Jean and Ray Wright marked 60 years of wedded bliss on September 20, followed by a lunch with family at the Wentworth Hotel in Aldeburgh on Sunday.
Mrs Wright, 80, said she first met her husband-to-be when walking home from the church in Sibton with her grandmother. “He came over, we got chatting and we all went home for a cup of tea,” she said. “We just clicked.”
The couple wed three years later at the same church. After moving to Peasenhall, they eventually took over the village post office, which they ran for 26 years. After retiring, the couple moved to Bruiseyard, near Framlingham, where they have lived ever since.
When asked for the secret to their long marriage, Mrs Wright said: “You’ve got to give and take. “We certainly don’t agree on everything, but we never row.”
