The sun-soaked towns and villages of Suffolk and north Essex are set for a change in fortune with showers and cooler temperatures predicted.
Lots of suncream and hats were needed today as the mercury rose across the region.
Wattisham recorded 26C (79F) with parts exceeding that.
But showers are expected across the weekend, with temperatures dipping to around 22C (72F).
Jim Bacon, forecaster for Norwich-based Weatherquest, said rain was due to fall last night.
“There should be some showery weather tomorrow and it will be cooler but it should be brighter at the start of Sunday with showers coming in the afternoon,” he said.
“It will be around 22-23C, 22C for Suffolk. It’s not going to be so sudden but it’s going to definitely feel different than today
“It should not be too windy, air will be coming from the south-west but should be gentle.”
The outlook for the early part of next week is also one of change but forecasters expect more hot weather over the summer.
Just as the weather cools thousands of people will be visiting Suffolk’s county town for Ipswich Music Day on Sunday, an event which forms part of the IP-Art Festival.
