TWO more Suffolk MPs have been promoted after last week’s government reshuffle.
Ipswich MP Ben Gummer has been appointed Parliamentary Private Secretary to Alan Duncan, minister of state at the Department for International Development.
And Suffolk Coastal MP Dr Therese Coffey has been appointed PPS to minister of state for business Michael Fallon.
The appointments are unpaid, but they are seen as the first rung of the ministerial ladder – they work closely with their minister and in particular act as liaison with backbench MPs.
The appointments follow on from Central Suffolk and North Ipswich MP Dr Dan Poulter being appointed a junior health minister and West Suffolk MP Matthew Hancock being appointed a junior minister at the department of business.
