An adventurous duo from Suffolk will be setting out on a gruelling cycle ride from Beccles to Edinburgh this Sunday without a single penny, to raise money for charity.
Robbie Stevens, 25, from Ipswich, and 26-year-old travelling companion Will Treager from Beccles, have posted their wallets to a friend in the Scottish city, and will be attempting to work in return for food at various stops along their 450 mile trip, entitled ‘Scotland for Free.’
Musician, Mr Stevens who is raising money for Iceni in Ipswich, said: “We’ll be sleeping in a tent for quite a lot of it, and we won’t have any money so it should be quite fun.
“I do some busking and I know people who live in the street in Ipswich, and know its a big problem.”
English teacher Mr Treager, who initially came up with the idea, said he was encouraged to raise money for women’s rights and education in Turkey via the Global Giving charity, after hearing about the problem from a friend.
He said: “I was looking for a new challenge and my friend who is Turkish lived in a town where some pretty horrifying things happened so thought I would do it.
“I am kind-of nervous but very much looking forward to it. The biggest constant throughout everyone’s life in the UK is money, so I am looking forward to two weeks’ outside perspective.”
