The owner of six lambs stolen from a field in west Suffolk has been left “distressed” by the loss of animals.

Suffolk police received reports of the theft from a field off Moat Lane, Rougham, near Bury St Edmunds, sometime between Wednesday and Thursday last week.

The theft has prompted a warning to other livestock farmers to remain vigilant and contact police if they have concerns.

A police spokesman said the lambs had been weaned but not yet tagged.

“The owner has been distressed by the loss of the animals, which has also damaged her livelihood,” the spokesman added.

Officers are appealing for people to get in touch if they have seen a suspicious vehicle in the area on the days in question.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting 30325/18. People can also contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or through its online form.
