Reports of a man “outraging public decency” in the steam room of an Ipswich gym are being investigated by police.

A spokesman for Suffolk Constabulary confirmed the alleged incident happened at the DW Fitness Club gym in Ranelagh Road.

“Police have received a report of a man outraging public decency at a premises on Ranelagh Road in Ipswich,” the spokesman said.

“The incident reportedly occurred on Saturday, May, 5 at approximately 8.10am.

“Police are at the early stages of the investigation and enquiries are ongoing.”

Reports from members of the public said the man was seen in the steam room of the gym “with jogging bottoms around his ankles” while he performed a lewd act “not caring that others were also using the steam room”.

The gym offers a wide range of classes, including spin, Zumba and BodyPump, as well as facilities including sun beds, spa pool and large indoor swimming pool.
