Just two days after launching the ’50 Things To Do In Suffolk’ campaign with The Mark Murphy Show on BBC Radio Suffolk, the EADT has already been inundated with replies.

Our reporters on social networking site Streetlife have received plenty of informed suggestions from Suffolk enthusiasts, and now we can share these with you.

Jenny H rightly points that everybody has different likes and needs. For children she suggests lambing time in Kentwell, while for others sampling the history of Lavenham is a must.

“There’s plenty of history in Lavenham: super quaint properties, antique shops, tea, coffee and cake shops and restaurants,” she said.

“The church offer tea and coffee and also sells second hand books. The art galleries are great too.

“I find Lavenham is a great place to take your own visitors as there seems to be plenty for everyone!”

Claire H mentioned the seven-acre Fullers Mill garden in West Stow on the River Lark. The garden is full of unique shrubs, perennials, lilies and marginal plants.

She also mentioned Lackford Lake bird reserve and Lackford Church.

A particular bed and breakfast called Blackthorpe House, tucked behind Blackthorpe Barn in Rougham, caught the imagination of Hannah T; as did the Go Ape adventure park in Thetford.

Stonham Barns was mentioned by Ena A, and Sarah D lauded the Anglo Saxon village in West Stow and Ickworth House.

“When you go to Ickworth House,” said Margaret B, “be sure to visit the Stumpery at the rear of the house. Fantastic.”

Eamonn H said: “Knettishall Heath is a great place for dog walkers, nature lovers and families with young children, especially out of season when it is peaceful and quiet.”

Maggie R’s suggestion was the “vast area” of Kings Forest in West Stow. “Miles of beautiful open spaces run by the Forestry Commission… There is a signposted walk which you can follow until you get used to the vastness. The walk is about two to three miles long. Great for children and dogs.”

Jennifer W suggested Walberswick and Minsmere for a good walk as well as the “really atmospheric” ancient wood in Staverton Thicks near Woodbridge.
