The second weekend of the BAGCATs Regional Championships held at Norwich UEA produced some outstanding performances from Deben Swimming Club swimmers.

Pride of place went to 12 year old Tom Beagley, who came into the weekend in great form having missed his 200 metres Breast National Qualifying Time by less than a second the previous weekend. He produced an incredible swim in the heat of the 100 Breast, his final 50 metres was of a swimmer who wanted a National Qualifying Time. Determination, commitment and pain all played a part as he produced an amazing finish for a time of 1.21.17, qualifying him for the National Swimming Championships. A very proud Deben Team congratulated a very happy Tom.

The final of the event bought even more excitement with Tom bettering his time to 1.21.00 and gaining a Bronze medal as well putting Deben on the Medal Table.

Lewis Moore (11 years) had kicked off the weekend for Deben, finishing 5th in the final of the 200IM in a time of 2.47.48. He followed this up with 10th place in the 200 Free in a PB of 2.30.09 and then produced some excellent splits in the 400 Free to place 5th again in a time of 5.09.00 This was a great way to finish a very successful Regional Championships, in which Lewis finished 6th overall in his age group.

Harry Longbottom, 12, came 17th in the 200IM producing a PB time of 2.43.06 and then in his final race of his first Regional Championships swam another PB of 2.24.53 to also finish 17th in the 200Free. Harry also finished overall 17th in the 12 year old age group.

Other Deben swimmers who swam at the Championships were Abbie Webb (39th 12 years), Issy Wickens (55th 13 years) and Francesca Souter (46th 14 years).
