A TEENAGER who was pounced on and assaulted as she walked home from a night out managed to escape after punching her assailant, police said.
The 18-year-old was in an alleyway between St Johns Avenue and Fortinbras Way in Chelmsford when the attack happened at between 3.30-4.45am today. (Monday)
Essex Police said the man approached the victim, who is from Chelmsford, and punched her in the face before trying to sexually assault her.
The teenager managed to hit the pervert in the face before running away from him. He was described as white and wearing track suit bottoms and a hooded top.
Officers are now anxious to hear from anyone who knows someone who fits the description of the attacker and has a fresh injury to their face.
