A TAKEAWAY delivery driver was threatened at knife-point as he parked up in a Suffolk shopping centre.

The victim fled the scene before the two robbers - believed to be teenagers - were able to take any money during the frightening ordeal at the Guineas Shopping Centre in Newmarket.

Police have issued an urgent appeal for witnesses following the incident on Saturday night while descriptions of the two men wanted in connection with the crime have been released.

The delivery driver, who has not been named, was approached by two young men as he got out of his car at the rear of the shopping centre at about 7.50pm.

The man was threatened with a knife and demanded money, but managed to run off down an alleyway into Wellington Street.

A spokesman for Suffolk police said one of the men then damaged a nearby car before walking off into town. It is not known where the other man went.

One of the men has been described as white, in his late teens, 5ft 7ins tall and of slim build. He was wearing a cream hooded top with brown stripes, light blue jeans and white trainers.

The second man - who damaged the car - was white, in his late teens, 5ft 7ins tall and of slim build. He was wearing a green or blue hooded top, light blue jeans and white trainers.
