A cafe in north Essex has been named among the best places to eat cake in the country.
Poppy’s Tea Room in Thaxted has been listed as one of the top 10 Great Cake Places in Britain in a new guide launched by Allegra publishing. The small eaterie on Fishmarket Street gained the recognition after judges visited the premises and customers voted for it in poll.
Owner Liza Mitchell said: “All our cakes and scones are homemade on the premises using quality ingredients and our small, dedicated team works hard to ensure customers really enjoy their visits to Poppy’s.”
