Several thousand homes where left without water yesterday (thurs) morning as engineers tackled a problem with a fire hydrant.
Residents of Elmswell, near Bury St Edmunds, were desperately filling kettles and saucepans from 11.30 when the taps ran dry without warning.
A spokeswoman for Anglian Water said: “We had received reports of no water in Elmswell. We believe it was connected to emergency work being carried out on a fire hydrant and supplies were restored after an hour.”
