Energy supplier EDF Energy Networks has apologised after nearly 3,000 homes and businesses lost power as a result of bad weather.

Shortly after 6.30pm today, 113 customers lost power in Kirton after an overhead electricity line was damaged in the stormy weather.

Another 2,800 customers in Kirton, Trimley, Falkenham and Levington lost power from 7.27pm because of an associated fault.

Engineers, working in poor weather conditions, restored power to 2,385 customers at 8.08pm and a further 455 at 8.23pm.

An EDF spokesman said: “We appreciate how difficult it can be to lose power and apologise for the inconvenience caused.”
