ONE of the busiest roads in Colchester was closed in both directions for two hours following a major crash during rush hour.
Police shut Clinghoe Hill following a three-car accident just before 5pm involving a blue Ford Mondeo, a green Toyota Avensis and a blue Citreon Saxo.
At least one of the vehicles came off its carriageway and ended up in the wrong lane.
A 60-year-old man has been injured in the accident although it is not known how seriously.
Police advised drivers to avoid the area if possible but significant jams built up in what is a notoriously busy part of town.
