A cow stuck in a water-filled ditch in Blythburgh has been rescued.

A call was made to the Suffolk Fire and Rescue service at 1.31pm stating that the unfortunate bovine was in trouble near Lowestoft.

One fire engine from Lowestoft South and two from Halesworth were in attendance but struggled to access the livestock who was stuck on boggy ground.

Eventually the landowner was able to assist the three fire engines and the cow was rescued.

It is now being checked by a vet and its owner has been informed.

There were no ambulances or police at the scene and no one was hurt.

The incident has already been reported to the RSPCA but they were unable to attend.
