THREE British soldiers were killed by a renegade Afghan soldier in southern Afghanistan today.

Another two members of UK forces were wounded in the attack in the Nahr-e Saraj district of Helmand Province.

The families of the soldiers involved in the incident are being informed, but anyone worried about relatives serving in Afghanistan can call a special helpline on 08457 800 900.

It is the second time members of the Afghan security forces have turned on UK troops with tragic results.

Five British soldiers were killed and six injured when an Afghan policeman opened fire on them at a secure checkpoint in Nad-e-Ali in Helmand Province on November 3.
