More than 30 trees will go on display in St Peter’s Church and the library in Thurston during the village’s Christmas Tree Festival.
It is taking place on Saturday and Sunday, December 16 and 17, and the opening times are 10am to 4pm with the village carol service in the church at 3pm, on Sunday.
There are special activities for children including the Tricky Ricky Christmas Magic Show, in the library, on Saturday, from 11am to 2pm, and Christmas crafts in the library, on Sunday, from 1pm to 3pm, where they will be reindeer food, lollipop tree decorations, sock snowmen and other Christmas crafts. Places are limited and may be booked at Thurston Library (01359 235048). The cost is £5 per child.
Meanwhile, the church will host a quiz and activities for children throughout the weekend and entry to the festival is free although donations towards the cost of the event, which has been organised by the church and the library, will be welcomed.
