Ten show chickens with a combined value of more than £3,500 have been stolen from a property in Timworth, near Bury St Edmunds.

Police are appealing for information about the burglary, which happened around 11pm on Thursday in The Street.

The burglars were disturbed by the home owner who had let his dogs outside. He then heard the sound of people running away and climbing over the rear fence.

At this point he discovered that the sheds the chickens are kept in had been broken into and the padlocks forced off.

Officers were called and searched the area, but were unable to locate the offenders.

The stolen chickens are described as a pair of Chu Shamo, a pair of Japanese O Shamo, two pairs of Madagascan Game and a pair of Ginger Oxford.
