A SWIMMING pool will be closed for four weeks while it undergoes major improvements, it was announced yesterday.

Suffolk Coastal District Council is installing a new boiler system at Deben Swimming Pool in Woodbridge.

The facility will shut its doors on Monday and is not expected to reopen again until Sunday, December 27.

The district council is spending 75,000 on the new boiler system and DC Leisure will be using the closure to undertake other minor refurbishments.

Mary Neale, Suffolk Coastal cabinet member for countryside and leisure, said: “The gym will remain open as usual during the pool closure but there will be no hot water for the sauna, showers or heating

“I hope the closure of the pool does not hinder too many people from enjoying a swim and I would encourage people to try one of our other centres if they have not done so before.”

Felixstowe and Leiston leisure centres will be open as normal during the maintenance period and Kinetika members may use the pools and facilities at either of the centres at no extra cost. Coastal Card holders will also be able to use the other facilities at a discounted rate.

For information on alternative facilities call Felixstowe Leisure Centre on 01394 670411 or Leiston Leisure Centre on 01728 830364.
