Tributes have been paid to a 30-year-old father of four who died in a crash near Thetford on Sunday.
Terry Cooper was killed when his Vauxhall Astra, which was travelling towards Thetford on the A1075, was involved in a head-on collision with a blue Volvo C70 travelling in the opposite direction.
Police said the incident, which took place at around 11.50pm, happened 445m north-east of the junction with the A11.
Mr Cooper, who lived in the Dereham area but grew up in Thetford, was pronounced dead at the scene.
His family described the former Rosemary Musker High School student as a ‘lovely man’.
They said in a statement: “He was very much loved by all his family, and judging by the amount of cards, flowers and kind comments we have received he was a very well liked and gentle person to others, too.
“He will be greatly missed.”
Mr Cooper was a sub contractor for several companies, and was a skilled mechanic, his family added.
He leaves two daughters and two sons.
Mr Cooper had been driving to Thetford after a meal with friends in Dereham when the collision took place.
Emergency crews attempted to resuscitate him for half an hour, but were unsuccessful.
The female driver of the Volvo suffered serious injuries and the male passenger in the same vehicle sustained slight injuries. Both were taken to West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St Edmunds.
Several bunches of flowers had been left at the scene of the crash yesterday.
A string of tributes have also been paid on social media to Mr Cooper.
Jayne Louise Finch said: “RIP Terry. Taken way too soon and so young.”
Another said: “RIP taken far too soon.”
Police are appealing for witnesses, particularly anyone who saw the driving manner of either vehicle prior to the incident, to call the serious collision investigation team on 101.
