Tools were stolen during a distraction burglary in Trimley last week

On the morning of Wednesday January 15, a man called at the property in Cordy’s Lane and said he was from an electricity company. He asked to read their meter, which is located in the garage.

The occupant advised that the meter had recently been read and the man stated he was not aware of that – and he was then given access to the garage to take the reading. At the time, a van was parked on the road, although it was described as dirty and unwashed and unlike the service vans you would usually see.

The incident was reported to police yesterday after it was later noticed that a number of small hand tools were missing from the garage including pliers, screwdrivers and wire cutters.

Checks revealed that no one from the company the man claimed to work for was operating in the area at the time.

If you saw the van in the area or if you have any information relating to this incident please call DC Mervyn Cook at Woodbridge CID on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
