A MOTHER from Essex gave birth to a second set of twins on Christmas Day.

Tiny Abigail and Phoebe Keys were born on Christmas Day afternoon at St John's Hospital, Chelmsford.

Their mum Emma Keys, 38, of Maldon, also has 20-month-old twin boys, Joshua and Elliot, step-son Matthew, 10, and older son Ben, 13, and Stephanie, 15.

Mrs Keys said: "Matthew said the girls are his best Christmas present ever - even better than the Ferrari driving experience that we got him this year."

It was a shock when Mrs Keys found out she was expecting a second set of twins. "The whole pregnancy wasn't planned - then to find out we were expecting another set of twins."

But Mrs Keys said she and her husband, Martin, were "over the moon" with their new daughters.

The twins were due on January 19. They were born quickly and Abigail weighed 5lbs 3oz and Phoebe was 5lbs 13oz. They are expected to go home today .
