A total of 13 fire crews were called out to two separate field and straw bale fires in west Suffolk this afternoon.

They first went out to Rookwood Hall Farm, in Donkey Lane, Stanningfield, near Bury St Edmunds, at 1.20pm, to tackle a stubble blaze over 20 acres of farmland.

Crews from Sudbury, Clare, Newmarket, Long Melford, Bury St Edmunds, Stowmarket, Princes Street in Ipswich, Haverhill, Wickhambrook and Ixworth, are currently dealing with the incident.

Around 10 minutes later another fire broke out in Tostock Road, Beyton, when 10 acres of stubble and 50 tonnes of straw bales, consisting of 120 bales, caught alight.

Crews from Eye, Bury St Edmunds and Elmswell are attending the scene.
