A SECURITY guard and a member of the public were shot during an armed raid at a supermarket today.

The guard, aged in his 30s, was attacked as he carried cash from his Group 4 Securicor van outside the Tesco superstore in Tring, Hertfordshire, at 7.30am.

He was seriously injured and is undergoing emergency medical treatment in hospital today.

A bystander, aged in his 20s, who tried to intervene in the raid was also shot and suffered injuries, but they are not thought to be life-threatening.

Police said a number of shots were fired in the raid and they are hunting two men who left the scene on a Triumph motorcycle, registration number P354 JYB.

Detective Inspector Mick Trotman, who is heading the investigation, called the raid a “targeted pre-planned incident” and said officers are treating the case “very seriously.”
