Two teenagers have been arrested in connection with the alleged rape of a woman in Ipswich.

A 17-year-old and an 18-year-old, both from Ipswich, were arrested on suspicion of rape and were last night due to be quizzed by police.

Police were called yesterday to the scene of the alleged sexual assault in an alleyway off Northgate Street, between the rear of St Mary-Le-Tower and Church’s Bistro and Bar.

A 24-year-old woman reported being raped by two men in the area of Tower Church Yard between 3.15am and 3.25am yesterday.

Police cordoned off the area, blocking off the alleyway, while investigations were carried out throughout the morning.
