Two terrific displays in the past week have seen Leiston jump back up into sixth spot as they start a tough February run of games.

On Tuesday evening the side produced an excellent result on the freezing Sussex coast to defeat Peacehaven & Telscombe 4-0.

The side had to navigate a 300-mile plus round trip and returned to Suffolk with all the points following four unanswered goals.

Darren Mills set the ball rolling with his second goal in as many games, pouncing on a loose ball in the box to steer home the opener.

Leading scorer Gareth Heath doubled the lead minutes before the break after home keeper Joseph Taylor was penalised for picking up a back pass. Heath firing home the resultant free kick.

Early in the second half a dazzling run from Joe Francis saw him race through the Peacehaven defence unchallenged before finding the net.

Patrick Brothers wrapped up the win with a crisp finish inside the box before the hour mark.

Days earlier Hampton & Richmond were defeated at Victory Road with a gritty and determined display. Mills fired in the opener before man of the match Joe Jefford headed home the second midway through the second half.

Our visitors were reduced to ten men late in the game and further chances came and went that could have seen a larger winning margin. But it was all about the win and the perfect response to two defeats leading into the game.

Our thanks to Alex at Reisser Limited for sponsoring the game and to Jim Girling for sponsoring the matchball.

The Reserves suffered a 4-1 defeat at March Town United, Virgilio Leitao netting our consolation. This weekend they travel to Haverhill Borough.

Tomorrow there is another Ryman Premier Division fixture at Victory Road as Kingstonian are the visitors, come along and support the Blues.
