Thieves have stolen a 30-year-old tractor from a popular horticultural nursery, leaving its workforce “devastated” and feeling “violated”.

The crooks seized a red Case tractor – and a two-furrow plough attached to it – in a raid at Crown Nursery, Ufford between 9am on Sunday and 5.30am on Bank Holiday Monday.

Crown Nursery managing director Jill Proctor said the thieves had cut the chains on the gate and taken off the padlocks to seize the tractor from behind a gate.

“Everyone here is devastated, really upset,” Mrs Proctor added. We feel like we have been violated.

“Everyone works really hard to keep up the business and then people come along and steal things. It’s horrible.

“I’m not sure how much the tractor is worth – we are still working on that because it is quite old – but its sentimental value was worth a lot.”

The red Case tractor has a registration of F728 NGV.

“We would like to ask anyone who has any information to come forward and help police with their investigations,” Mrs Proctor added.
