TWO pensioners have spoken of their shock after seeing what appeared to be a large orange UFO fly over their bungalow.

Eric and Janet Reeve were sitting in their lounge on Sunday night when the mysterious spherical object came into view through their glass patio doors.

The curtains were open at their home in Spencer Road, Thorpe-le-Soken at around 9.50pm when Mrs Reeve, 69, first spotted the strange phenomenon and alerted her 81-year-old husband.

“I have never seen anything like it in my life,” said Mr Reeve.

“It was glowing and came straight towards the bungalow.

“Some people have said it could have been a Chinese lantern, and although I have never seen one I am not sure at all.

“It was bright orange and passed over the bungalow before heading towards Felixstowe.

“We keep a pair of binoculars near the door so we can see the ships.

“If it wasn't for the fact my wife saw it as well I'm not sure I would believe it.”

Mrs Reeve said: “The first thing I thought was it must be a hot air balloon. But there was no noise from the furnace and I thought a balloon wouldn't be up in pitch darkness.

“It also went over very quickly.

“We asked neighbours if they had seen anything but most of them had their curtains closed.”

A spokeswoman for Thames Coastguard, based at Walton on the Naze, said they had had no calls regarding UFOs on Sunday night.

“We received no reports of an unidentified flying object in the Felixstowe area,” she said.
