Volunteers from UK Power Networks grabbed their paint brushes to help out at Rushmere Hall Primary School in Ipswich – injecting a burst of colour which the children loved.
The team from the company’s press office helped paint playground benches, fences and a pergola at the school in Lanark Road.
The school, which has 600 pupils, has raised more than £4,000 to buy playground equipment, but then needed the manpower to make its dream a reality.
Deputy headteacher Richard Smith said: “On a site this size our caretakers are busy every day and they have to prioritise jobs, so having volunteers to help is absolutely fabulous and it makes a massive difference.
“Before today this playground was just all green and brown. Now it has a real splash of colour and looks really good.”
UK Power Networks gives all employees two paid days a year to volunteer in local communities.
