The University of Suffolk has welcomed its new vice chancellor Professor Helen Langton.
Professor Langton, who was previously deputy vice chancellor at the University of South Wales, takes up the role following the retirement of Richard Lister.
The new vice chancellor has a strong affinity with East Anglia and her family has had a home in Suffolk since 1964. One of her first engagements was to meet with more than 30 headteachers and heads of sixth forms from across Suffolk, Norfolk and Essex at the university’s annual Headteachers Dinner this week .
Professor Langton said: “I am delighted that we are working together in partnership with our schools and colleges to provide an excellent and comprehensive educational offer for all our young people.
“This is critical not only for the individuals, but for our wider social, cultural and economic future.”
