The A14 near Needham Market has reopened after its earlier closure to allow cattle to be transferred from a broken down lorry.
Suffolk Constabulary received reports that an HGV had broken down near the flyover above All Saints Road at around 3.50pm.
The vehicle was accompanied by another 4X4 and both were towing trailers loaded with livestock.
A police spokesman said the westbound lane of the A14 was blocked by the broken down lorry and both lanes were expected to close temporarily while the cattle is transferred to the other vehicle.
The closure happened around 5pm and motorists were advised to avoid the area.
