Train services that pass through Colchester and Manningtree have been severely disrupted this evening due to a fatality on the line.
The line connecting the two stations was closed from 6.30pm but has now been reopened.
Services will continue to be disrupted for the rest of night.
An Abellio Greater Anglia spokesman said: “We apologise for the delay in getting the line reopened.
“This was owing to the emergency services carrying out their investigations, which prohibited us moving any trains.”
All train services to Ipswich and Norwich are now able to run through Colchester station.
However customers are warned not to travel via Cambridge after the 9.28pm departure from Liverpool Street, as there will not be a connection at Cambridge for either Ipswich or Norwich.
