Thames Coastguard assisted Essex police in the search for a missing person yesterday afternoon.
The search of the shoreline and pier at Clacton was for someone a coastguard spokesperson described as “vulnerable”.
An Essex Police spokesman has since said the man had threatened to jump of Clacton Pier but was later found at an address in the town.
“Police received a call shortly before 4pm yesterday indicating concern for the welfare of a man who had threatened to jump off Clacton Pier and the coastguard were contact to provide assistance,” the spokesman said.
“Follow up police inquires subsequently located the man at an address in Clacton and the search was stood down.”
