A MAN died following a crash on the A12 in Essex last night.

Police were called to the road, northbound between junction 23-25, near Kelvedon at 7.10pm after reports of a single vehicle collision.

Fire appliances from Tiptree, Coggeshall and Witham also attended.

Crews used cutting equipment to free a second casualty who was trapped by about 8.55pm.

At the time of going to press we were unable to confirm the extent of the person’s injuries.

Officers were also called to a six-vehicle collision on the A1120 Framsden, both ways at B1077 Chapel Hill at about 7.30pm.

A police spokeswoman said no one was believed to have been injured in the collision.

And on the A12 at Saxmundham at 5.30pm an articulated lorry and several cars had became stuck in snow.

A police spokeswoman said the vehicles were now moving and the road was clear.

On the A14 eastbound between Risby and Kentford the fire service and police were called when a car collided with the central reservation.

Police have also been in attendance to single vehicle collisions on the A1071, near Boxford and the A14 at Elmswell.

The spokeswoman said no one was injured in the crashes.
