A MAN in his 70s suffered neck injuries in a four-vehicle collision which brought the A14 to a “standstill” for commuters today.

Paramedics and police were called to the incident on the A14 westbound exit slip for Ransomes Europark at 8am.

One lane was blocked and traffic was “at a standstill”, a police spokesman said.

The incident involved a black Peugeot 306, a white Ford transit van, a brown Honda Civic and a grey Vauxhall Astra.

An East of England Ambulance spokesman said a driver in his 70s suffered neck injuries but was not taken to hospital.

The spokesman said: “We were called at 8.02am and treated a single casualty with neck pain.

“The patient, a man in his 70s, refused to go to hospital, so was advised and left in the care of his family.”

The incident was cleared at 9.57am.
