Update: Norfolk beach reopens after discovery of unexploded mortar

An area of beach at Hemsby has been reopened after the controlled explosion of what was believed to be an unexploded mortar.
Officers were contacted at around 8.15am after the item was found about 500 yards away from the lifeboat station by a member of the public.
A team from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team assessed the situation and carried out the controlled explosion at 2pm.
