Fire crews have rescued people trapped in a vehicle which crashed near Colchester.

The single-vehicle crash happened in Tollgate Road, Stanway, just before 9.40pm last night.

Firefighters from two Colchester appliances arrived on scene to find the casualties stuck in the vehicle.

Cutting equipment was used to free the people by 10.25pm.

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: “We were called just after 9.30pm, dispatching a rapid response vehicle and three ambulances. Three casualties were treated and conveyed to Colchester General, all with non-life threatening injuries.”
