DETECTIVES are continuing their investigations after a man was stabbed in an alleyway in Ipswich.

The scene, in an alleyway between Lloyds bank and Nacton Fried Food in Nacton Road, was cordoned off after reports that a man had sustained knife wounds were made Suffolk police.

Officers were called just before 4.40pm and sent six units and CID to the scene.

People living nearby have spoken of their shock at last night’s events.

One neighbour, who wished to remain anonymous, said: “I have lived here for seven years so I’m quite shocked to hear what’s happened to be honest.

“We heard the police but thought it might have been a little fight but nothing like a stabbing.” A nearby shop worker added: “The first we heard of anything happening was police sirens and a load of officers arriving.”

Paramedics from East of England Ambulance Service were called at 5.04pm and arrived on scene within four minutes.

The man, who age is unknown, was taken to Ipswich Hospital by ambulance with a stab wound to his abdomen for further treatment. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Officers are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information in relation to the stabbing.
