THREE fire crews have been sent to the scene of an accident on the A12 in Essex this evening.

The crash, which happened at just before 5pm, has left one woman trapped in a vehicle.

The accident happened on the northbound carriageway at Marks Tey, between junctions 25 and 26, and crews from Colchester, Coggeshall and Tiptree have been sent to the scene, along with ambulance units and police.

Long queues of traffic have been building up since the collision and the delays are also causing congestion on the A120.

Two people have been taken to hospital - one person by land ambulance to Colchester General Hospital and another by Essex Air Ambulance to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge.
