POLICE were called after numerous reports of a woman seen walking along the River Orwell in a ‘distressed state’.
Officers received a call at 9.15am to The Strand, in Ipswich, next to the river.
A force spokeswoman said: “Members of the public saw a female walking along the water’s edge towards Suffolk Food Hall. Someone else reported her walking towards Pin Mill. The woman appeared to be distressed. The coast guard was also called.”
Police arrived at the scene and have taken the woman to hospital.
A spokesman confirmed the woman was not injured in the incident.
