A PENSIONER suffering from Alzheimer's disease has been found alive and well in a field this afternoon, police said.

The 82-year-old man had been reported missing from his Shotley home yesterday, prompting a massive search operation.

Eric Jay, of Garden Close, was found in a field near Brantham this afternoon after last being seen by a neighbour at about 3pm yesterday.

A spokeswoman for Suffolk police said the Alzheimer's sufferer is now being checked over by paramedics to make sure he is ok.

Rescue teams, police dogs, helicopters and coastguards were involved in the search to find him today.

The spokeswoman said: “We would like to thank the media and the public for their assistance with this appeal.

“He was located as a result of police searches that had been going on today.”
