Now is the time to make the best of the lingering summery weather – because next week it may all be gone.

After a slightly hit-and-miss August as far as sunshine was concerned the start of September has seen bright and reasonably warm weather across much of Suffolk.

And it’s just a few degrees which have been making the difference, according to Weatherquest forcaster Chris Bell.

The five day forecast is showing temperatures of around 22C (71.6F) when the average for this time of the year would normally be more like 19C (66.2F).

However it is likely the weather will now get cooler again rather than warmer.

Mr Bell said: “The air is still coming from the east and north east so we‘re not expecting temperatures to jump up.

“It feels a little less cool. It’s only been a couple of degrees above average but not significantly warmer.

“We should see fairly warm and humid conditions through this week and into Saturday.”

Mr Bell added by next Monday and Tuesday we should be feeling the weather cool down to around the 19C average expected for this time of the year after peaking at about 23C on Friday.

But he also said: “There’s still no sign of what I would call cooler air as we go into the first part of October. The pattern does look a little more unstable in October.”

Mr Bell said breezier conditions and more traditional autumnal weather would then follow later in the month.
