Hay fever sufferers in the East of England should enjoy some relief from symptoms this week as pollen levels are expected to drop, a weather expert has said.
People with the condition might have been struggling with running noses and itchy eyes recently due to a very high pollen count across this region.
Richard Jones, forecaster for Weatherquest, said this was because high pressure had created a temperature inversion in the atmosphere which trapped pollen close to the surface.
However, Mr Jones said the count should reduce towards the end of this week as new weather fronts swept Suffolk and Essex from the Atlantic.
He said: “That’s the first time we have had fronts coming in from the west for a long time.”
Mr Jones said most of this week should be warm with temperatures sitting at around 19C (66.2F), which he added was average for this time of year.
However, Mr Jones warned there was a chance of showers on Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday.
