HAIL storms and strong winds have hit Ipswich and parts of Suffolk this evening.

At just after 6pm hail storms began to affect parts of Suffolk after earlier blustery wind and outbreaks of rain had caused an overcast day.

Jim Bacon from Weatherquest said that the weather was not going to cause major damage but that there had been unsettled weather throughout the county.

He added that tomorrow would start with a bright start but would become cloudy later on with some heavy rain developing in the afternoon and evening.

A fallen tree had caused disruption on the A1088 in Thetford earlier, partially blocking the road in both directions.
