HAY fever sufferers are experiencing some of the highest pollen counts anywhere in the country right now.

The Met Office has classed East Anglia’s pollen count as “very high” and forecasters are saying it could be the worst week of the year so far.

Patrick Sachon, health manager at the Met Office, said: “Following the rain we saw in April and the rain over the last few weeks, grass has grown well, more than last year, when it was much drier. This is therefore expected to cause higher levels of grass pollen than last year.”

The Met Office is advising hay fever sufferers to keep up to date with the pollen forecast this week.

Phil Garner from Weatherquest said: “Today and tomorrow will be fine days and should stay dry throughout the afternoon. Tomorrow will cool down as the day goes on, but temperatures should reach 21c.”
