More wintry showers are forecast for Suffolk and Essex in the coming days – though it is unlikely to settle for long.
Richard Jones, a forecaster at Weatherquest in Norwich, said today was expected to become increasingly cloudy with patchy drizzle developing later this afternoon, with temperatures reaching a maximum of 5C.
“Overnight, we’ve got weather coming in from the west, which is bringing a few hours of rain, some of it heavy with up to 5mm in places,” he added.
“Then tomorrow is an interesting one. We’ve got northwesterly winds and there’s a risk of showers, particularly on Friday morning and lunchtime, which could turn wintry with sleet and snow, but not much settling.”
Maximum temperatures are expected to be 4C.
Through Friday night a ridge of high pressure is expected to see temperatures fall to as low as -3C.
Saturday morning is forecast for a dry and bright start before rain comes in from the west during the afternoon, when temperatures could reach 7C.
Colder weather returns from the north west again on Sunday, again bringing the chance of wintry showers, which could continue into Monday.
An Atlantic weather system is forecast to hit the area on Tuesday bringing more unsettled weather.
