A man in his 60s was punched in the neck and his wife and daughter were pushed to the floor during an assault outside a fast-food restaurant in Weeley.

A spokesman for Essex Police said the incident followed a “driving manoeuvre” on a nearby roundabout which involved two hatchbacks, which were white and black, at about 9am on Sunday.

A 64-year-old man was punched in the neck while his 52-year-old wife and 19-year-old daughter were pushed to the floor near the car park entrance to McDonald’s.

None of the people involved, who live in Colchester, needed medical treatment.

A 24-year-old man from the Clacton area was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing assault and is on police bail until Wednesday, November 13, pending further inquiries.

Witnesses to the incident are being sought and anyone with information should call investigating officers at Clacton police station on 101.
