A lucky secondary school worker celebrating a £30,000 cash prize from the People’s Postcode Lottery says the money will allow her to return to Hong Kong.

Catherine Brunner, 49, from Stanway, landed the sum when her postcode, CO3 8BJ, was announced as the winner on Saturday. The money will enable her to return to the Asian nation where she gave birth to her first daughter and lived with husband Nick for three years.

Mrs Brunner said: “It would be amazing to go on a family holiday to Hong Kong, to see old friends and to show our children the places we tell them stories about. It’s something that would never have been possible before.”

She said her three daughters have also given her a few ideas on how to spend the windfall.

Presenting Mrs Brunner with her cheque was People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador Jeff Brazier. He said: “Getting to hand big cheques to lovely winners like Catherine is the best thing about my job and I couldn’t be more thrilled for her.”

People’s Postcode Lottery players have now raised £330 million for over 4,000 good causes across the world With a minimum of 32% from every ticket going to charity.

En-form is one charity close to the Stanway winner that players have helped to support. The group were awarded £19,400 last year to help people across Essex become fitter and healthier through bike-riding programmes.
