There was a robbery at the Ladbrokes betting shop in Newland Street, Witham, yesterday.
A man entered the betting shop at about 3.50pm and handed a note over to the cashier demanding money.
No money was handed over and the man left empty handed. He is thought to have made off in the direction of Lockram Lane.
He is described as wearing a black tracksuit with a hooded top and dark woolly hat. He had a goatee beard and was about 5ft 8ins tall and slim.
A search of the area was conducted, including the use of the helicopter, but as yet no one has been arrested.
