A woman was attacked with a knife as she tended a grave at a cemetery in Halesworth at the weekend.

It happened at around 6.15pm on Saturday, September 2, at the graveyard in Holton Road.

According to Suffolk police, a woman in her 40s was tending a grave when a man grabbed her shoulder from behind and pulled her backwards.

He then grabbed a small knife the woman had taken with her to the grave and scratched her right cheek with it.

She managed to fight the suspect off and he ran away towards the gate leading to Loam Pit Lane.

The suspect is described as white, aged around 30, 5ft 10in tall, of slim build and with mousy-coloured short straight hair.

At the time of the attack he was wearing light blue jeans, a black zip-through hooded top, black fingerless cycling gloves with a reflective strip and black-framed aviator sunglasses with mirrored lenses.
